Elon Musk says he never told people to invest in crypto. Here’s what he has said.

However the current cryptocurrency market tanking and major cryptocurrency companies becoming insolvent, one might think that Elon Musk might reflect on some of his recent statements with a bit of contrition. After all, Musk is a big proponent of cryptocurrency, right?

“I never said people should invest in crypto,” Elon Musk said he told the crowd during his virtual appearance at the Qatar Economic Forum after being asked about the current state of the cryptocurrency.

Musk continued. “In the case of Tesla, SpaceX and I, we all buy Bitcoin, but it’s a small percentage of our total cash assets,” he said.

This seems to be true, technically. It seems that Musk never uttered the words “people should invest in cryptography” or any kind of simple investment recommendation similar to cryptocurrency.

So where did people get the idea to invest in cryptocurrency because of Elon Musk?

Musk has had a lot to say about cryptocurrencies over the years. And some of them were quite promotional, so much so that it would be easy to see how anyone would do he thinks Musk was offering investment advice. Or at least insinuating with such force.

Most people interested in Musk consume their words on Twitter, where he is one of the main users of the platform, closing the 100 million followers. Here is a compilation of just a few of the things Musk said about cryptocurrencies on Twitter:

Let’s start with the moment when Elon Musk announced that his company, Tesla, would start accepting Bitcoin for the purchase of vehicles. Since you have to buy Bitcoin to spend it, and since another way of saying “buy” is “invest in”, that seems pretty promotional to me.

Musk later reversed course and suspended vehicle purchases via Bitcoin due to the negative environmental costs that only later apparently explained to you.

But, Musk also felt the need to reiterate how much he still believed in cryptography after his decision to suspend Tesla’s purchases with Bitcoin.

And of course, Tesla isn’t the only company in Elon Musk promoting cryptocurrency.

Musk previously announced that SpaceX would launch a satellite literally called Dogecoin, a meme-inspired cryptocurrency. The “mission” was also going to be paid for in Dogecoin, as well as making history by making Dogecoin the “first cryptography in space.”

Speaking of Dogecoin, it’s obvious that the token is Musk’s favorite cryptocurrency as he has connected it more than any other cryptocurrency.

Here is Musk simply stating “Dogecoin rulez”.

Here is Musk connecting to Dogecoin as the “cryptography of the people.” In a follow-up he too he explained to the “people” who “don’t have to be a gigachad to own” Dogecoin.

Here’s Musk asking developers to help create Dogecoin.

This is what Elon Musk says would “eat a happy meal on television if McDonald’s accepts Dogecoin.” Again, people would need to purchase Dogecoin to use it.

And here’s his latest Dogecoin plug, tweeted during the big cryptocurrency crash that took the cryptocurrency to its all-time high of 70 cents, which occurred when Elon Musk appeared on Saturday Night Live and connected Dogecoin on network television, up to about five . cents.

“I will continue to support Dogecoin,” Musk tweeted.

When another Twitter user asked him to keep shopping, he did answered: “I am.”

And then there are the strange and not-so-subtle mentions of Elon Musk of memecoins like Babydoge e Shiba Inuboth of which were fueled by Musk’s Twitter cries.

Musk too appears a sight crypto as a direct competitor of fiat currency and not only an investment vehicle.

To be fair, Musk has admitted that there are better things to invest in … though he has once again felt the need to cover and share what he still has. bullish in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Dogecoin

But yes, after reviewing Musk’s Twitter history, it seems to be correct. He never told people directly to invest in cryptocurrency.

So remember, as Elon Musk would say, “Cryptocurrency is promising, but invest with caution!”
